While I'm on my back porch playing guitar, my lyrics simply flow and are usually done in less than 30 minutes. Niykee says that as she matures as a singer-songwriter her painful memories from her childhood are an source of inspiration. My experience of pain as a child in my youth as well as the loss of my sister are present in my lyrics even when they are not exactly literal. This influences my music and helps to create this greater meaning under everything which is one the most important things for me. I want to be able to say that I could hear any of my songs in 20 years from now and still feel proud of the things I said.
